The Pittsburgh Penguins cut ties with long-time franchise goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury this summer and they may now be in the market for a replacement.
While there have not been any solid rumors up until this time, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman believes he knows who will be joining the Penguins roster this summer.
According to Friedman, the Penguins are likely to add veteran goaltender Antti Niemi, this despite the fact that Niemi is coming off a difficult season as a member of the Dallas Stars.
That being said, there is no doubt that two-time Stanley Cup Champion goaltender Matt Murray will remain the team's number one goalie, so the addition of Niemi would be merely in a backup role.
It will be interesting to see if he can show better form with the Penguins and bounce back from his less than impressive season.
