Rumor: Pickard to the Oilers?
Keystone Press

It’s no secret that the Edmonton Oilers are in a downward spiral. Facing the prospect of missing the playoffs after being pegged a preseason Stanley Cup favourite and now without the services of starting goaltender Cam Talbot, something’s got to give.

On TSN’s Insider Trading segment, Frank Seravalli highlighted five potential trade targets for the Oilers, with one of them being Toronto Maple Leafs property Calvin Pickard.

Pickard has been a revelation for the AHL’s Toronto Marlies since the Leafs picked him up from the Vegas Golden Knights earlier this season. In eight games with the Marlies so far this season, Pickard has a remarkable 1.90 GAA and .933 save percentage.

So, what exactly could Pickard command in a trade with the Oilers? Reports indicated that Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli been shopping Anton Slepychev, Jujhar Khaira and Drake Caggiula. Is there a fit for any of these players in the Leafs’ bottom six?
