Red Wings and Penguins about to make another trade?
The Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins have already hooked up once this season when the Red Wings traded forward Riley Sheahan and a 2018 fifth round draft pick in 2018 to the Penguins for forward Scott Wilson and a 2018-third round pick, however they may not be done making deals.
Over the week-end trade rumors surrounding Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang broke and there has since been rampant speculation about where he may end up. While we've heard a ton of possible teams that could trade for him including the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres, a new team may now be in the mix.
In his recent 31 Thoughts article Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman touched on the fact that anytime a high-end defenseman is available on the market, he believes general manager Ken Holland is likely in the mix.
I always wonder about Detroit whenever a top defender is available.

While it's true that the Red Wings need help on the blue line, is the answer for a team that looks like it is headed for a rebuilding process really an aging Kris Letang? Add to that the fact that Letang is seemingly constantly injured and it makes it an even more questionable deal for Ken Holland should he in fact be looking to acquire Letang.
That being said Letang is only 30, still relatively young for a defenseman, and if he could stay healthy he could be an anchor on the Red Wings blue line for several years to come. The question is how much would Detroit have to give up in order to get him?
