The Detroit Red Wings are listening to offers for one of their veteran goaltenders and that may include holding on to some salary in order to get a deal done.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie is reporting that the Red Wings would be willing to retain some of goaltender Petr Mrazek's salary for the "right deal," although what that means to general manager Ken Holland still isn't clear.

McKenzie believes that Mrazek, who is set to be a restricted free-agent at the end of the season, will not be qualified by the Red Wings which increases the likelihood he will be dealt before then.

The problem for the Red Wings of course is just how poorly Mrazek has performed this season, recording a 3.72 goals against average and an .888 save percentage over 10 games with the Wings.

While Mrazek has shown better form in the past, his salary cap hit is at $4 million and that makes him a difficult asset to move when he is not playing well. Perhaps the Red Wings willingness to retain salary stems from the fact that they know they won't get much of a return unless they do.
