The Detroit Red Wings are reportedly working on a trade.

Earlier today the Red Wings American Hockey League affiliate team, the Grand Rapids Griffins, scratched a forward in a move that is now believed to be trade related.

The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta is reporting that the decision to scratch Jonatan Berggren, a former Red Wings 2nd round pick (33rd overall) at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, may stem from the fact that he is linked to a trade that the Red Wings are currently working on.  According to Pagnotta, the Red Wings have been engaged in trade talks as of late and Berggren has been one of the players discussed in those trade talks.

No word yet on what such a trade might look like, or what teams are currently in the mix with the Red Wings.

Berggren has accumulated 71 games of NHL experience since being drafted, the majority of which came during the 2022-23 NHL regular season. This season Berggren has spent the majority of his time in the AHL where he has performed well with 5 goals and 10 assists for a total of 15 points in just 16 games.
