Rumor: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the move?
Keystone Press Agency

The Edmonton Oilers showed their growing potential last season, making it to the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. They signed key players like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to long-term contracts in hopes of bringing a little stability to the team.

But they're off to a really bad start this year, and general manager Peter Chiarelli might want to shake things up a little. It sure looks like trading former first-overall pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins could be the answer.

According to Boston Bruins insider Jimmy Murphy, several teams have expressed interest in the 24-year-old forward:

He mentions the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Rangers, who have both been looking for a good centerman for a while now. They could indeed be suitable trade partners for Chiarelli.

In 23 games this year, Nugent-Hopkins scored eight goals and nine assists, good for 17 points.
