Head coach Guy Boucher may soon be getting another weapon in his arsenal.

Freelance righter for ESPN Boston Jeff Cox is now reporting that Boston College standout, and former Ottawa Senators first round draft choice, Colin White is expected to sign his first National Hockey League deal with the Senators within the next 24 hours.

It's huge news and also represents a major shift from what earlier rumors suggested regarding White's future with the organization. Initially there was speculation he could be moved at the deadline, and when that came and went rumors suggested he would be sent to the American Hockey League to develop ahead of next season.

If Cox is correct, it would appear to indicate that the Senators feel White can contribute immediately. With the playoffs in sight it's not hard to see why they would do so at the expense of burning a year off of his entry-level deal.

White is coming off a season with Boston College that saw him record 16 goals, 17 assists for 33 points in 35 games and a plus minus rating of +8 over that stretch.
