Rumor: Shocking deadline day rumor involving Patrik Laine directly from the NHL Network!

We have an absolutely wild rumor to report, so wild in fact that I find myself struggling to believe it.

There is an expectation that the Winnipeg Jets will be major deadline day buyers today with their team looking like it is set to be a serious contender for a Stanley Cup Championship for the second straight year, but there are now reports that they may be willing to part with arguably their most high profile player.

According to an absolutely jaw dropping from report from former 1st overall pick turned National Hockey League analyst for the NHL Network Brian Lawton, there are teams who have made calls to the Winnipeg Jets and general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff regarding the availability of star forward Patrik Laine, and based on the words used by Lawton it sounds like the Jets are at least listening to some of these inquiries.

"Hearing some really big names floating around out there today," began Lawton. "A number of clubs have called the Winnipeg Jets about the moonshot of is Patrik Laine a guy they would consider moving? Believed the phone was not hung up............"

That is of course an absolutely insane rumor on the part of Lawton and given the high profile that any such report will have on a day like today I highly doubt he would risk forever tainting his reputation by making such an outlandish claim without some information or a source to back him up. That being said though with the extensive coverage out there today Lawton remains the only source reporting this at this time so I am unwilling to call this any more than just a rumor at this time.

There have of course been rumblings of problems behind the scenes with Patrik Laine, notably the topic of a potential video game addiction, specifically as it pertains to popular hit title "Fortnite," has lingered around Laine for some time but those have never been more than rumors and speculation. I suppose I could see Laine moved in say a sign and trade type of deal for Ottawa Senators' forward Mark Stone, but even that seems like a bit of a stretch at this time.

Nonetheless this is the NHL Network reporting this, so it would be negligent of us not to cover it.
