A Canadian team may be stepping up their trade offer in an attempt to acquire Colorado Avalanche star forward Matt Duchene.

The talented center has been on the trading block seemingly forever and there is sense that frustration is growing between his camp and the Avalanche's general manager Joe Sakic, and other team's may be sensing that.

"I think everybody here felt it would be done by now," said Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman.

Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos touched on the latest rumors regarding a trade for Duchene, and somewhat surprisingly the Vancouver Canucks were mentioned and in fact they may have a significant trading chip in play.

"The feeling now is perhaps Vancouver getting in the mix, and a lot of talk about Juolevi who went the same year in the draft as Sergachev," said Kypreos.

Juolevi was the fifth overall pick in the 2016 National Hockey League Entry draft and although he has not played a single game yet at the NHL level, he is exactly the kind of defensive prospect Sakic has been looking for all along.

That being said it would be somewhat of a curious move from the Canucks organization who seem to have put more focus on building towards their future as of late.
