We have conflicting reports regarding an attempted three player deal that would have involved Colorado Avalanche star forward Matt Duchene.
First here's the rumor, according to whispers around the National Hockey League the Columbus Blue Jackets offered both 23-year-old defenseman Ryan Murray as well as 24-year-old centerman Boone Jenner in exchange for Duchene.
Now however there is an interesting report from Columbus Blue Jackets insider Aaron Portzline of the Athletic that refutes at least part of that rumor. According to Portzline the rumor was not accurate "at that time" that the speculation was made.
The wording from Portzline here is very curious, and while we certainly take his word when it comes to the Blue Jackets, he is after all one of the most well connected journalists when it comes to that team, we have to wonder if the Jackets may in fact be considering such an offer moving forward based on his wording.
Should the Blue Jackets make this deal a reality if they can acquire Duchene in the process? Would you give up Duchene if you were the Avalanche for two young NHL caliber players? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
