Rumor: Teams line up for Drouin trade with contract talks stalled

The burgeoning superstar is on the trade block once again.

The Jonathan Drouin saga in Tampa Bay just seems to grow bigger and more dramatic with each passing season. It was less than 12 calendar months ago that the burgeoning superstar looked to be on the way out of the Sunshine State, only to stay put and emerge as a legitimate star for the team. Now, however, rumors that contract talks between Drouin and general manager Steve Yzerman have stalled, which has spurred trade speculation and interest from other NHL teams.

Interesting. The Kings could certainly use Drouin’s playmaking skills in their top six. The two-time Stanley Cup champions struggled to find consistent offense in 2016=17 and it ultimately cost them a playoff spot. They can’t afford to miss the postseason a second year in a row and newly hired GM Rob Blake will likely uncover every stone in the NHL this offseason in an effort to acquire more offense.

Do you see a fit between the Kings and Drouin? How about another NHL team?
