Rumor: The Blues have selected their next captain.

There has been no official announcement but one source is claiming that the St. Louis Blues have selected their new captain,

According to a report from Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Blues have scheduled a major announcement for this Thursday, and furthermore Rutherford is claiming that announcement will be the naming of Alex Pietrangelo as the Blues new captain.

The organization was left without a captain when, by all accounts, they chose to not to re-sign veteran David Backes losing him to unrestricted free agency. Pietrangelo will undoubtedly be a solid replacement, he's not only one of the teams best players but one of the longest tenured as well, and there's little doubt that he will remain with the Blues organization for several more years to come.
