According to a third-party report from NBC analyst Pierre McGuire, with so many teams interested in New York Islanders superstar John Tavares, hockey fans could see their first three-way trade in a long time.
It’s no secret that Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin has been scouting the Islanders heavily this season, being in attendance for four games so far, so count them in as one of the teams in on Tavares. But, who could be the third team that would facilitate such a deal? Maybe the Colorado Avalanche sneak in with Matt Duchene? The Isles may not have the assets to acquire Duchene on their own, but add the Habs to the mix and who knows?
At this point, the rumor is just that: a rumor. But if Bergevin continues to scout the Islanders and if his team continues to struggle for wins, look for the trade speculation to ramp up in Montreal.
