If this year's free agent class is any indication it seems like we are going to see more and more players head to the unrestricted free agent and restricted free agent interview windows. The windows are a period prior to official free agency in which players and teams are allowed to meet and discuss potential interest and the loose parameters of what a contract could look like, and it sounds like the Vancouver Canucks have added one name to their calendar early.

The window for unrestricted free agents will open on Sunday and according to a report from Vancouver Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal of Sportsnet, his sources have informed him that the Canucks are set to meet with soon to be free agent Tyler Myers. As per TSN's trade bait board Myers remains the top defensive prospect available this summer, the only player that had been ranked above him was star defenseman Erik Karlsson but the Sharks were quick to lock him up long term.

Now to be clear this does not indicate that Myers will sign with the Canucks, but rather that he will at the very least be weighing different options as he waits for a potential offer from his current team, the Winnipeg Jets. By the sound of it though there may be more than just the Canucks on Myers list and it seems like the aforementioned Jets are among those. According to a report from TSN National Hockey League insider Pierre LeBrun it sounds like Myers has plans to visit at least a few teams when the window opens.

"Pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Tyler Myers will meet/speak with a handful of teams over the next week, starting with a visit in Vancouver on Sunday," wrote LeBrun. "The Myers camp waiting to hear back from the Jets as well."

Myers has been a solid defenseman for the Winnipeg Jets ever since he was acquiring by the organization as part of the Evander Kane trade. Additionally his 2 best seasons as a Jet have been his last 2 with Myers missing just a total of 2 games over that span. That being said Myers is not a top pairing defenseman and the fear from fans will obviously be a potential overpay in free agency, however what kind of deal he can fetch on the open market remains to be seen.
