The Vegas Golden Knights have been playing much better than most people expected since the start of the season. With a record of 11-6-1 and 23 points, they're currently ranked second in Pacific division, right behind the dangerous Los Angeles Kings. But some experts wonder if they're going to be able to keep this up until the end of the season.

General manager George McPhee has said multiple times that he's focused on the future of his organization, which means making the playoffs might not be the number one priority for this year. Could he be tempted to move some of his best assets this year in order to get young and talented players?

TSN insider Bob McKenzie commented on this possibility in the last edition of Insider Trading:

"The Vegas Golden Knights are getting calls on pending UFA wingers James Neal and David Perron. It’s been believed that they would move them at the trade deadline. If someone were to “blow their socks off,” they might consider moving now, though that is not likely to happen. There are lots of teams looking for help up front. GM George McPhee could also be open to talking to Neal and/or Perron about a contract extension."

It is fair to believe there are a bunch of teams that could be interested in trading for either one of these guys. Especially considering their salary aren't extremely high ($5 million for Neal, and $3.75 million for Perron).

Neal scored 10 goals and five assists for 15 points this year, while Perron amassed six goals and 11 assists for 17 points.
