It appears that one of the league's veteran forwards may have asked his team to explore trade options.

According to CSN's Kevin Kurns San Jose Shark Patrick Marleau has told his team that he would accept a trade, and by extension waive his no trade clause for one of only three possible teams. According to Kurns those three teams are the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers and Anaheim Ducks.

The report has been corroborated at least in part by some of hockey's best insider's including Elliotte Friedman as well as Bob McKenzie, something that lends a great deal of credibility to this rumor.

Kurns has also mentioned that Rangers have had scouts at the last few Shark games, indicating that the Rangers could be considering a potential deal.
