Rumors of a huge deal between the Canucks and Stars.

There is now a huge rumor of a potential trade between the Dallas Stars and the Vancouver Canucks and it comes from a rather credible source.

TSN insider Pierre LeBrun has reportedly stated that there have been conversations between Vancouver Canucks' general manager Jim Benning and the Dallas Stars.

LeBrun even had some insight to share on the nature of the trading adding that it was pretty clear that Benning was looking to move up in this draft, presumably indicating that he would be interested in Dallas' #3 overall pick in the draft.

It's not who Benning is targeting with that draft pick or what kind of package would be required in order to get Dallas general manager Jim Nill to consider such a deal, but we have to believe that the Canucks #5 pick in the draft would be part of that deal.

It also seems likely that the Canucks would be using this move to build towards their long-term future, while Dallas would be more inclined to quickly retool and bounce back into contention. With that in mind it's not hard to see why these two teams have been talking as there appears to be a natural fit here at least in terms of current direction for both organizations.
