The rumors of a potential trade of Buffalo Sabres goal scorer Evander Kane have begun to pick up steam as the end of his contract with the Sabres draws near,  and now we some a better idea of at least one team who may be in the mix.

TSN insider Darren Dreger was a guest on Montreal's 690 when he commented on what he would expect the Sabres to get back in exchange for their soon-to-be unrestricted free agent.

“So you’re talking about probably at the very least a prospect and a draft pick," said Dreger as per Fanrag's Chris Nichols. "Or maybe Buffalo just wants a player who can play now, so you’re going to have to take on a contract.

While the rumors regarding a potential trade for Kane have been getting more frequent, there still isn't a clear idea of which teams would potentially be interested in a troubled player who has a ton of talent. Dreger however touched of a very interesting possibility.

“If you’re a team like Anaheim, as an example, in that win-now mode – and they’re looking for a forward – Evander Kane makes some sense. But for cap reasons, budget reasons, maybe Anaheim – if they are genuinely interested – would have to add a contract just to make the money make sense.”

Anaheim is in the Western Conference so newly appointed general manager Jeff Botterill wouldn't have to worry about seeing Kane up against his team several times a year if he traded him, and with Anaheim's depth on defense he could potentially even snag himself a decent player in the deal.

That being said, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman believes the Sabres are looking at multiple options.

"I think he could be moved," said Friedman. "Buffalo has got a lot of irons in the fire. I think they want to do some things."
