It appears that the Boston Bruins and the Winnipeg Jets have discussed the much rumored Jacob Trouba trade.

According to a report from Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos, the Jets are willing to make the move, however they have asked for a very hefty package in exchange for Trouba, one that would include two players and a draft pick. According to Kypreos the Jets would need to give up Ryan Spooner, rookie defenseman Brandon Carlo and a draft pick from the Bruins, it's unclear what that pick would be.

It's a big ransom, albeit for a player many believe will be a top pairing defenseman who shoots right, a very hot and rare commodity in the NHL. especially at this stage of his career, but despite that Bruins insider Joe Haggerty believes the Bruins would be insane to make this deal.

From Haggerty:

The Bruins brain trust would need their collective heads examined if they ever gave the okay to that trade, despite the clear need to upgrade their own back end.

Why,  you ask?

Because Brandon Carlo has suddenly become a player of interest after an impressive opening three weeks to the season.

Haggerty believes Carlo is a long-term piece of the Bruins organization and clearly feels dealing him would be a mistake, but believes the organizations history of poor trades may require  "holding up a giant, flashing neon sign that says Don’t trade Carlo" may be required in order to talk them out of this one.

More to come.
