Rumors of huge trade between Avalanche and Predators after phone call last night.
An absolute shocker!
HockeyFeed
There is a huge rumor of a trade between the Colorado Avalanche and the Nashville Predators, and while that rumor was already floating around the National Hockey League, we now have even more information.
On Tuesday we reported on the rumor that star defenseman P.K. Subban had been connected to the Matt Duchene trade rumors by multiple players, but Subban may not have been the only name on the trading block.
Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman was a guest on Buffalo's WGR 550 on Wednesday morning and he was asked about the rumors of Duchene to Nashville, and according to Friedman the Avalanche inquired about acquiring one of Nashville's top four defenseman plus an additional piece in a trade for Duchene.
“I wrote yesterday that they’d asked Nashville about all four of their top D, and then somebody said to me that – last night he actually called me and he said that not only that, but he heard it was one of those D plus," said Friedman as per Nichols on Hockey. "So it’s a big ask."
It's not hard to see why the Predators would hesitate to make such a deal, even if their Stanley Cup Window appears to be wide open at the moment, and it seemingly also adds legitimacy to the rumor that Subban may in fact have been on the trading block.
With talks ongoing however one has to wonder if these two sides don't finally find a way to pull off this trade before the start of the regular season.
