Rumors of trade between the Jets and Panthers.

We have an update to provide on a trade rumor from TSN insider Bob McKenzie.

Just a few minutes ago we published an article in which we discussed the fact that McKenzie had revealed that the Florida Panthers were currently shopping for a young experienced National Hockey League goaltender but at the time we had no idea who that might be.

Noe McKenzie has hinted at a potential trade target for the Florida Panthers although he chose to do so in a roundabout way, without specifically stating that the Panthers were targeting this player in particular.

According to McKenzie the Florida Panthers are no-longer interested in finding a lower-level short-term stop gap like they were earlier this season when they picked up veteran Antti Niemi.

So what are they looking for? Well McKenzie curiously pointed out the fact that Michael Hutchinson who is currently under contract with the Winnipeg Jets, is having a terrific season for the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. This appears to be a deliberate attempt from McKenzie to hint at a trade between the Panthers and Jets.

Hutchison has a 1.73 goals against average and a 0.951 save percentage over 11 games in the AHL this season, very respectable numbers to say the least. This likely means that the Jets won't be willing to give him up for cheap.

Unfortunately McKenzie has not provided any hints regarding what the Jets might want in return from the Panthers in this potential trade deal.
