Rumors that Johnny Gaudreau got his coach fired take an interesting twist.

There were a lot of unsubstantiated rumors surrounding the firing of former Calgary Flames head coach Bob Hartley and one of the uglier ones involved Flames star Johnny Gaudreau.

The rumors suggested that locker room tensions between the soon to be restricted free agent and the coach had led Gaudreau to pressure ownership and management to get Hartley out of town, effectively forcing a choice between himself and the coach. Those rumors were never substantiated, and never got past the point of being ugly gossip, but nonetheless they were fairly rampant.

On Monday Gaudreau may have squashed those rumors for good, when he made an unannounced appearance at Bob Hartley's annual summer camp this week, not exactly the kind of solid you do for someone you hated so much you wanted them fired.
