Rumors that Mike Babcock is in Vancouver and will meet with Canucks ownership
Oh boy! Here we go!
HockeyFeed
According to multiple unsubstantiated online reports, former NHL coach Mike Babcock is in Vancouver today and is set to meet with Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini.
Now, before you get too excited or too angry Canucks fans, I feel it's important to note that yes Babcock is in Vancouver today. That much we know to be certain. His Saskatchewan Huskies are in Vancouver to face the UBC Thunderbirds thsi weekend and Babcock will be behind the bench for that matchup. Whether or not he has a meeting with Aquilini though is purely unsubstantiated and... to be honest, pretty far fetched.
As some who has been following Canucks rumors online for years, I have to point out that Triggbir from Surrey might be one of the worst sources on Canucks Twitter. It's worth noting that he has made predictions and proclamations for years that never end up coming true. So, while it's true Babcock is in Vancouver this week/weekend, we don't know anything more than that.
Now, having said all that trusted Canucks source Rick Dhaliwal has commented on the possibility of Babcock taking over for Travis Green and thinks, as most do, that it's far fetched.
Check it out:
I'm not sold on Babcock saving this team from yet another failed season this year. But, could he be what they need to finally get their act in order for next season? It's clear to me that Canucks management isn't sure what their next step should be, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if Babcock does indeed end up getting the job in Van City.
