NCAA unrestricted free agents are the talk of the town lately. While college players might not always succeed in the NHL as they’re intended to, one player is on the verge of joining the Stanley Cup champions today.

Thomas DiPauli, a former Washington Capitals draft pick, became an UFA on Tuesday and is set to sign a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, as per AZSports.

While nothing is set in stone as of yet, DiPauli’s agent Peter Fish, who happens to be Jimmy Vesey’s as well, has made it clear that the 2012 100th overall pick is definitely not staying in Washington.
