While there is uncertainty surrounding Kevin Fiala with the Minnesota Wild, there is no doubt that his name has been heard more than once in trade chatter.

Fiala struggled at the start of the season, and though he was not worried about his scoring slump, there is a big question mark on his future in Minny, being on a one-year contract.

This all prompted to rumours about the winger getting moved and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman gave more details on the situation, adding that the New York Rangers could be tempted to go after Fiala. Friedman believes the Wild could be interested in moving him if he brings a good return. There’s been talks that the Rangers are hoping for a boost up grade with Sammy Blais being out long-term. Could Fiala be that upgrade?

Fiala has back to back 20 goal seasons, but needs to find his groove back. Earlier this season, this is what he had to say about the slump:

“I feel I’m a goal-scorer, and if I don’t score goals in some games, it’s getting a little bit in my head,” he said back in October, per the Pine Journal. “I’ve been long enough in the league to know that it can’t happen. Just have to stay with it, stick with it, be a good teammate, be happy, and do a lot of other things.”

Maybe a change of scenery is exactly what he needs to get going again. In 18 games this season with Minnesota, Fiala recorded three goals and 12 points. He just tallied a goal and two assists on Sunday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
