A huge name may soon be on the trading block, and whether or not he goes there will likely depend on how his team plays in the next few weeks.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie touched on the current struggles of the New York Rangers during NBC's pregame show on Wednesday evening and while he believes the Rangers want to ride things out, a huge name could be moved in things don't improve.

"They want to see where they’re going to go." said McKenzie as per Fanrag's Chris Nichols. "They feel like they can pull this thing out of the ditch. But in the meantime, they want to see where they are. If things aren’t going well for the New York Rangers, then Rick Nash is likely to be traded as a rental sometime between now and the trade deadline."

For his part it sounds like Nash wants to remain with the New York Rangers, both for the time being and even after his contract runs out at the end of the season and he becomes an unrestricted free-agent.

“Now, I should point out that Rick Nash made it clear to the New York Rangers in the offseason and continues to feel this way that he wants to return to the New York Rangers. He wants to re-sign in New York. He likes it there and would like to continue to be a member  of the team.

Unfortunately for Nash he only has limited trade protection, and therefore would have to submit a list of 12 teams he would accept a trade to, meaning the Rangers could request that list and trade him if they find a match.

It will be very interesting to see where this goes, and how quickly a move will be made, if the Rangers continue to struggle.
