Ruthless fan pretends to be NHL Safety to annonce Spezza’s suspension with brutal insult to Maple Leafs

No mercy.

As we still await to see what the National Hockey League will decide when it comes to Toronto Maple Leafs’ Jason Spezza’s imminent suspension, one fan, MrBooth7 if you know him, went viral for pretending to be the NHL Safety department and announcing a fake suspension to the veteran player.

On Tuesday, Spezza was called for an in person hearing with the league, which is required if the NHL wants to suspend a player for five games or more. This was of course after the chaotic game between the Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets, in which Spezza kneed Jets defenseman Neal Pionk in the head.

MrBooth7 made a fake account to portray the NHL Player Safety and said that Spezza was suspended 12 games. When you follow the link to this made-up suspension, Leafs fans fall upon the article from NHL.com from June, in which it reminds them that Toronto lost in seven games to the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the postseason in 2021.

Just brutal as fans are still awaiting to see how long Spezza will be suspended for.

While it’s frustrating to get caught by fake news, this one is pretty funny. And it doesn't seem to have damper the Maple Leafs, who led 3-0 after the first period over the Columbus Blue Jackets, while awaiting the real suspension to Vintage.
