Ryan O'Reilly injured in his first game back since winning the World Cup.

The Buffalo Sabres had a scare on Wednesday night.

Forward Ryan O'Reilly had just arrived at training camp off the heels of a World Cup of Hockey win as a member of Team Canada, and was joining his team for his first game of the preseason but that did not last very long.

O'Reilly suffered some form of injury in the first period and would eventually leave the game, with the Sabres later announcing that it was a "lower-body injury" and furthermore revealing O'Reilly would not return.

No word on the specific nature or the severity of the injury yet.
