Being an enforcer in the National Hockey League can be glamorous at times but it is also an incredibly tough job that can take an incredibly demanding toll on your body.

On Saturday, veteran NHL enforcer Ryan Reaves reminded the hockey world of that sobering reality when he suffered a gruesome injury during what looked very much like a premeditated scrap against his opponent.

Reaves and the San Jose Sharks were facing off against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday and it would only be minutes into that game that Reaves and Flyers forward Garrett Wilson would drop the gloves and go toe to toe with one another.

The fight would come immediately off a face-off draw which made it clear that these two had discussed things ahead of time but, despite the planned nature of their altercation, things would go horribly wrong for Reaves.

After the two men were done throwing punches it was obvious that there was something very wrong with one of Reaves' fingers, and the look on his face as he tried to snap it back into place spoke volumes.

Reaves would eventually have to go to the Sharks bench to get help from the trainer with snapping his finger back into place, resulting in a hilarious response from the commentary team as they reacted to his gruesome injury.
