The Minnesota Wild walked away with a huge win over one of the toughest teams in the Western Conference, and once again hopped over the Colorado Avalanche, regaining their playoff position for now.

It was a particularly big night for defenseman Ryan Suter who etched his name in the Wild's history books, setting a new franchise record for points by a defenseman in a single season. According to Sportsnet Stats, Suter's assist last night was his 47th point of the year, passing the record of 46 previously set by Brent Burns back in the 2010-2011 season.

The Wild while holding a playoff spot have one less game remaining than the Avalanche does, and Colorado only has one point to make up to catch Minnesota. While last night's 2-1 win over the Kings was big for the team, they will need more big wins down the stretch to make it in to the post season.
