This just in, the Buffalo Sabres have announced that recently retired goaltender Craig Anderson has re-joined the team in a mentorship role.
Check it out:
“Craig Anderson’s voice, experience, and love for the game have been invaluable components to our team’s growth over the past two seasons,” Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams said in a prepared statement. “Our players have benefited greatly from the habits and lessons he picked up during his accomplished 20-year career.
“We are thrilled that Craig will continue to be a guiding presence for the Sabres.”
Incidentally, TSN insider Darren Dreger reports that Anderson is set to sign a one day deal with the Ottawa Senators, so that he can retire as a member of the team.
The 42 year old Anderson is arguably the best goaltender in Senators history and was the team's backbone for 10 seasons from 2010 until 2020. In total he put up 319 wins in 709 career games split between the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Senators, Washington Capitals and Buffalo Sabres.
