Sabres get some good news concerning Tage Thompson

Let's go!

Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson confirmed today that he'll make his return to the lineup tonight when the Sabres take on the Detroit Red Wings.

Coincidentally, Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde confirmed this morning as well that the recently acquired Patrick Kane will actually NOT make his season debut this evening against the Sabres.

Kane took morning skate with the Red Wings today, but will not suit up this evening according to Lalonde.

This past weekend, Lalonde confirmed that Kane would make his debut within a week's time, but he wouldn't give an exact timetable or date for his Red Wings debut.

As for Tage Thompson, he's been out of the Sabres lineup for three weeks after suffering a wrist injury from blocking a shot back on November 14th against the Boston Bruins. Thompson fearlessly put his body on the line, getting in front of a point shot slapshot from Bruins defender Charlie McAvoy, a noted BOMBER from the blue line.

Thompson took morning skate with the Sabres earlier today and... well... he doesn't look like he had missed a beat.

Check it out:

The 26 year old forward has six goals and 12 points in 16 games to start the 2023-24 season following a break out campaign last year where he put up an outstanding 47 goals and 94 points in 78 games. The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games and are currently on a three game losing skid. They'll be looking to get back in the win column this evening against the Red Wings in a crucial divisional matchup.

Pressure is on the Sabres this season to make a step following a promising campaign last season, but so far they've fallen short of expectations. The team is currently 7th in the NHL's Atlantic Division and are five points back of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
