Sabres going after Pens coach for next season!

The Penguins might face important changes behind the bench as well...

The Buffalo Sabres lost out on Todd McLellan a few weeks ago when the head coach decided to take the coaching position in Los Angeles after getting interviewed by both teams.

Since then, the Sabres have been looking at other potential candidates to replace Phil Housley, who was fired at the end of the regular after Buffalo failed to clinch a playoff spot.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Sabres are zoning in on Pittsburgh as Penguins assistant coach Jacques Martin is a top candidate to be the next Sabres coach.

Martin worked with general manager Jason Botterill in Pittsburgh and this alliance could be quite beneficial to the Sabres in the near future.

The former head coach of the Montreal Canadiens has had great success with the Penguins for the past four seasons. However, he may be looking to get back in the lead and have the full reigns behind the bench.

The Ottawa Senators are also said to be looking at Martin as a strong candidate for their coaching vacancy. It seems like changes will be coming to Pittsburgh if Martin is so popular around the league.
