Lindy Ruff with a few big lineup changes for tonight's game.
The Buffalo Sabres are making a change in goal for Game 3 against the Boston Bruins this evening.
After goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen gave up a nightmarish goal en route to a 4-2 loss in Game 2, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff will turn to veteran backup Alex Lyon in goal for Game 3.
While Ruff wouldn't confirm the change to the media earlier today, Lyon was the one taking 'starter's reps' in the net at the team's gameday skate this morning.
“I can tell you this: We’ve used three goalies all year,” Ruff said. “I think some people thought it was a little unusual that we alternated. The cool thing about our team is that we haven’t relied on one guy. We haven’t relied on one goalie. We’ve had a lot of different players help us get to where we are. We know we’re a good team because of the depth of our goaltending. We know we’re a good team because of the depth of our forwards. It isn’t about one person.”
Puck drop is 7pm ET and I'm willing to bet that Lyon will be in the net about 6:57pm ET. Stay tuned.
One Sabres player who we KNOW will not be in the lineup though is forward Josh Norris.
Stop me if you've heard this before, but Norris will miss tonight's game with an unspecified upper body injury.
The 26 year old Norris played over 16 minutes in Game 2 but played in just 44 games for the team this season. He finished with 13 goals and 34 points in those 44 games.
