With the season already lost, the Sabres have plenty of time to try new things and give promising rookies the ice time they need to develop properly.

This is exactly what will happen for Alexander Nylander, who'll join the team for the foreseeable future.

Nylander has been drafted 8th overall in the 2016 draft. In his first pro season with the Rochester American, he has 27 points in 62 games, which is not so bad for a debuting rookie. He had 75 points in 57 during his last season in the OHL with the Mississauga Steelheads, back in 2015-2016.

With meaningless games remaining, he will have the opportunity to test out his skills in the NHL and validate how his skills match the league.

Welcome to the show, Alex!
