Oh my God... this is scary.
Team USA defenseman Ryan Lindgren has been assessed a game misconduct and a major penalty for illegal check to the head after absolutely blowing up Team Canada defenseman Evan Bouchard in Quarterfinal play today.
Lindgren delivered a forceful check directly to the head of Bouchard who appeared to be out cold for at least a few seconds.
Scary stuff...
Here's the hit in question:
Lindgren obviously didn't agree with the call and he got into it with members of Team Canada on his way off the ice.
Bouchard was visibly shaken up after the hit and left the ice with the assistance of a trainer.
The Edmonton Oilers blueliner has one goal and six points in seven games at the tournament entering Thursday’s game.
More to come on his status. Stay tuned.
This is Bouchard's first time representing Team Canada at the men's level, despite playing for Team Canada several times throughout his junior career.
He has quickly made an impact, scoring his first goal for Team Canada at the senior level and producing multiple strong offensive performances, including a three-assist effort against Norway. His ability to quarterback the power play and generate offense from the blue line made him one of Canada’s most dangerous defensemen in the tournament.
Despite occasional criticism over his defensive play, Bouchard’s offensive ceiling remains undeniable. Whether wearing an Oilers jersey or representing Team Canada, he has become known for game-changing moments, huge point totals, and the type of heavy point shot that can completely swing momentum in an instant.
