Scary scene in NY after Johnny Boychuk takes a skate blade to the throat

Yikes… this is scary. Thoughts and prayers to Johnny Boychuk.

Near the end of the 2nd period of tonight’s game between the New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs, Islanders blue liner Johnny Boychuk took a Mitch Marner skate blade to the neck area.

Boychuk immediately left the ice with a bloody towel wrapped around his throat.

Yikes… that’s scary, scary stuff.

Here’s hoping Boychuk is alright. Standby for an official update from the team.

UPDATE: Boychuk has returned to the bench, but has yet to play in the third period. At the very least, he seems healthy. Thank goodness.
