A series of sexual assault scandals have shaken Hockey Canada to it's core and, although there are still investigations being conducted into all of these matters, as the fallout continues more and more players are speaking out as they seek to distance themselves from the scandals.

The latest to speak out on the matter is former Nashville Predators first round pick Scottie Upshall, who on Saturday took to social media and issued a statement on the recent allegations made against Canada’s 2003 World Juniors team. Upshall, who was selected 6th overall in 2002, was a member of that roster and as a result it isn't a surprise to hear him speaking out on the matter. In his statement Upshall made it clear that he was in full support of investigations into this matter, likely in the hopes that his name will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

"I fully support thorough investigations by the police and the NHL into the claims made in the media yesterday about Canada’s 2003 World Juniors team," wrote Upshall on Saturday.

Upshall is not the only player from Canada’s 2003 World Juniors team that has spoken out on this matter, with former teammates Carlo Colaiacovo, P.A. Parenteau and Jordin Tootoo all releasing statements of their own since the allegations came to light.

Colaiacovo and Parenteau both made statements on Friday which you can read here:

Meanwhile Tootoo released his own statement earlier today which read as follows:

I join the community in calling for a full investigation into disturbing allegations that surfaced involving members of the 2003 Canadian World Junior Hockey Team.

My book chronicles many experiences from the tournament when I was age 19, as well as my journey with alcohol addiction, which started at age 14. If I am being totally honest with myself and you, I don't recall knowing or hearing about the incident in question during or after the tournament. I was shocked when I heard about it in the media and will cooperate fully with any investigation.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
