Scotty Bowman leaves the Blackhawks organization
The greatest coach in NHL history is now officially a front office free agent.
HockeyFeed
Hockey Hall of Famer Scotty Bowman has resigned from his advisory position with the Chicago Blackhawks, citing his desire to move on to new things. The greatest coach in hockey history is now a front office free agent.
Check it out:
Bowman had been an advisor to his son, former Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman, with the team since 2008. He's widely credited with helping Stan and the rest of the Blackhawks management team earn Stanley Cup championships in 2010, 2013 and 2015. Together with his championships as a head coach, Bowman has 14 Stanley Cup titles. Incredible.
Bowman has been living in Sarasota, Florida since 2018 and had been scouting every Tampa Bay Lightning home game for the past four seasons. It remains to be seen if he'll relocate for a new position, but he made it clear that he'd like to remain in the game and is presumably seeking another front office NHL job. Obviously any team in the world would be lucky to have the wealth of his knowledge at their disposal. Don't be surprised if there's a bit of a bidding war to gain the 85 year old living legend's services.
