Flyers captain doesn't hold back after an embarrassing loss.
The Philadelphia Flyers are now the losers of six straight after an embarrassing loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon and in the aftermath of that game the frustration from the Flyers players was starting to show.
Flyers captain Sean Couturier had some harsh words for his own team following a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Rangers, pulling no punches when it came to his criticism of the team's performance.
"We sucked. Plain and simple," said the Flyers captain on Saturday.
Couturier didn't stop there, breaking down why he felt things were going the wrong way so consistently for the Flyers. According to the captain, the team is simply not making good decisions while out on the ice.
"We’ve got to be better…We know we're in a funk," said Couturier. "We’re trying. I think we're just not smart right now. We’re putting together a couple good shifts, and then we make big mistakes that cost us."
He also chastised his team for failing to put out a complete effort, suggesting that the Flyers only began to come to life when it was already too late.
"We can't show up down 3-1 five minutes in, 10 minutes in, whatever it was; we gotta be better," added Couturier.
Unfortunately for Couturier the sentiment from the Flyers fan base has been much of the same, with several fans however pointing the finger directly at Couturier himself.
Unfortunately for the Flyers they will have to wait for another day to try and break themselves out of their current funk, a six game losing streak that was truly highlighted today in an ugly loss to the Metropolitan Division's last place team.
