After a two-game stint as a healthy scratch, Sean Monahan gets another shot with the Calgary Flames. He has eight goals and 22 points in 63 games this season, his ninth with the Flames, and the team just needs way more out of him, especially in the playoff push and in time for the postseason.

After practice, in which he skated on the fourth line between Milan Lucic and Trevor Lewis, Monahan told media that he was ready to step up and show that he got the message.

“You just put in the work,” Monahan said of his two-game absence as he sat in the press box. “Obviously, you don’t want to be scratched. You want to be in the lineup helping the team.

“I’m excited to get back in. I think I just have to be better all-around. It comes down to, at the end of the day, competing and earning a spot in the lineup every night.”

Monahan returns to action for Tuesday’s clash with the Colorado Avalanche in Calgary and you have to believe pressure will be on his shoulders.

His fate hangs in the balance for what’s next for him and his place in the Flames’ lineup.

Let’s see what he can do tonight against the Avalanche.
