Canucks insider confirms season ending injury on Saturday.
It has been a terrible two day stretch for the Vancouver Canucks.
After news broke on Friday regarding a serious injury to Canucks forward Filip Chytil, a top Canucks insider is now reporting yet another major injury on Saturday. The news comes courtesy of Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal who broke the news today that Canucks forward Jonathan Lekkerimaki will miss the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury.
According to Dhaliwal, Lekkerimaki will need to go under the knife for surgery in order to repair the damage to his shoulder and his timeline for recovery will push beyond the limits of the 2025-26 National Hockey League regular season.
Lekkerimaki appeared in 13 games for the Canucks prior to being injured, picking up 2 goals and an assist for 3 points at the NHL level. He also had 21 games with the Abbotsford Canucks where he looked very strong, putting up 13 goals and 7 assists for 20 points over just 21 games in the American Hockey League.
Lekkerimaki is still very young at just 21 years of age and the hope here is that this injury won't have any lasting impact on his NHL career moving forward.
Unfortunately for the Canucks, they just can't seem to catch a break.
