A whole bunch of trade rumors just got thrown out the window today after the Arizona Coyotes released an update on the status of Martin Hanzal. The Coyotes announced that Hazal will undergo back surgery likely putting an end to his season. While the Coyotes would not conclusively say that he was done for the rest of the year, general manager Don Maloney did admit that his chances of returning this season were "remote." Hanzal was a highly sought after player once the fire sale in Arizona was announced. Not only has Hanzal recorded 24 points in his 30 games with the Coyotes this year, but he brings a physicality to the game that a lot of teams were interested in adding for a playoff run. Add to that the fact signed through 2016-17 for a cap hit of $3.1 million and you've got a highly sought after player. Sadly it appears the surgery will end the interest in Hanzal, the Coyotes will look to focus on dealing players Vermette and Yandle.
