A bizarre and unfortunate situation has just unfolded at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, one that suggests the event and venue may want to step up their efforts when it comes to security.

According to a report from John Wawrow of the Associated Press, someone managed to sneak their way into the media pool and approached Team Canada captain Sidney Crosby. The person in question was not a member of the media which begs the question how did they manage to sneak into the media pool at the main rink of the event no less.

This is of course a very dangerous situation and thankfully the person in question appears to have had no ill intent towards Crosby, and if anything it sounds like they are a fan. According to Wawrow the person used the opportunity to request an autograph from Crosby, at which point they were told by actual members of the media to get lost in not so polite a fashion. It is unclear if Crosby signed the autograph after being caught off guard by the unexpected guest.

Crosby being Crosby has had a ton of experience dealing with overzealous fans throughout his extensive career in the National Hockey League as captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and hopefully that means he won't be troubled by this event and won't be thrown off his game.

Nonetheless this situation could have been much worse had the individual in question intended to do harm to Crosby or anyone else for that matter.
