The Ottawa Senators fan base is not the least bit happy with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, blaming him and the "Carney Curse" for costing the Senators what many considered to be a must-win game on Saturday afternoon.

The Senators faced off against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday with the Senators desperately hanging on to the last Wild Card spot in the National Hockey League's Eastern Conference. The Senators find themselves with 88 points alongside the Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers, putting tremendous pressure on all 4 teams to break away from the pack.

Unfortunately for the Senators the Wild would dominate this one from start to finish, with the Wild taking a commanding 2-0 lead early in the first period and never looking back, eventually claiming the victory by a score of 4-1.

Following the loss a video showing Mark Carney as a guest of Senators' owner Michael Andlauer has made the rounds on social media with fans in Ottawa quickly pointing the finger of blame for their misfortunates directly at the Carney Curse.

The curse has previously been linked to loses for other Canadian teams, most notably the Edmonton Oilers as well as the Toronto Blue Jays, and it seems that there are a fair number of superstitious fans in Ottawa.

Here is a look at just some of the responses:

It would seem that another fan base belonging to a Canadian sports franchise has begun to believe in the Carney Curse.
