Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green just confirmed that star defenseman Jake Sanderson will be out of the team's lineup long-term after suffering a shoulder injury this past weekend in a game against the Seattle Kraken.

Green told reporters today that Sanderson is officially out 'week to week', which is devastating news for a Senators team that is desperate to get back in the Stanley Cup Playoff race.

Green confirmed that Sanderson won't need surgery, but that the team is being cautious with his recovery.

Sanderson, who averages nearly 25 minutes of ice time a game as the team's #1 defenseman, left Saturday’s 7-4 win over the Kraken midway through the game after taking a hard hit from Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour.
