The Ottawa Senators organization and their fan base were rocked by shocking rumors this week, rumors that exploded across social media and even prompted an official response from the Senators organization.

The rumors center around alleged infidelity from players in the Senators locker room when it comes to their partners and personal lives, as well as Ullmark's alleged role in disseminating that information.

The account that published this rumor has since been deleted.

With such a serious subject at the center of it all the Senators issued the following response:

Our organization was extremely disappointed to read the completely fabricated and false stories that are spreading around social media about our hockey club. Linus is away from our team for personal reasons and he has the entire organization's support. We asked that people respect his privacy, but clearly that request was not heard by the lowest forms of trolls and sick people who scour the internet.

We are disgusted that outside forces are attempting to disrupt our hockey club. This statement will put an end to the ridiculous speculation that has spread online.

While the Senators issued the statement in an attempt to put an end to the rumors in question, it has seemingly only added more fuel to the fire with the story growing even bigger in the wake of the statement. Even more confusing however were a pair of roster moves the Senators made following the statement, moves that have only added even more gasoline onto an already raging fire.

The Senators began by removing Ullmark from their roster entirely, doing so under the pretense of making room for veteran forward Lars Eller to return to the roster.

That move understandably raised a ton of eyebrows given the circumstances surrounding Ullmark and the team at the time the decision was made, but it was only amplified by another move from the Senators this week.

As they were being obliterated by the Colorado Avalanche in what ended as an 8-2 blowout, news broke that the Senators had signed veteran goaltender James Reimer to an American Hockey League professional tryout offer pending a National Hockey League contract. This of course makes it look as though Reimer is being brought in to replace Ullmark, a player that some believe may never return to the Senators given what has transpired this past week.

It is important to note that none of these things prove or even suggest that the rumors are true, but it certainly does paint the entire situation in the Senators organization in a very questionable light at this time.
