The Ottawa Senators have just officially signed a very large goaltender.

On Monday, news broke that the Senators had signed Penn State Nittany Lions goaltender Kevin Reidler to a 2 year entry level contract. The Senators have had their eyes on the Swedish netminder for quite some time now and in fact Reidler was initially drafted into the National Hockey League at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft where the Senators selected him in the 5th round (151st overall).

Reidler is coming off of a season that saw him record a 3.31 goals against average and a .901 save percentage over 18 games with Penn State.

Reidler has historically elevated his game during the biggest moments, recording a .934 save percentage and a 1.69 goals against average over 11 games when he was a member of the USHL's Dubuque Fighting Saints during the 2024 playoffs.

The most interesting characteristic when it comes to Reidler however is his massive size. NHL teams have begun to heavily trend towards larger goaltenders and Reidler certainly fits that standard coming in at 6'6 tall and weighing in at 206 lbs despite only being 21 years old.

Reidler is reportedly signing an amateur tryout agreement with the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League, so fans of the Ottawa Senators won't likely have to wait very long to see him get some action.
