Senators unveil their new leadership group.

A big announcement.

Jonathan Larrivee

The Ottawa Senators will have a new leadership group for the upcoming 2022 - 2023 National Hockey League regular season.

On Monday, the Senators officially unveiled the 3 men that will wear letters on the front of their jerseys this season and it was a mix of both the old and the new.

Leading the way with the "C" will of course once again be Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, and he will be joined in the leadership group by longtime teammate Thomas Chabot. The Senators defenseman will wear the "A" on his jersey this season, and he will be joined in that role by newcomer to the team Claude Giroux.

Giroux of course has extensive experience as a leader both on the ice and in the locker room, having served as the captain of the Philadelphia Flyers for the better part of a decade. Including him in the leadership group for this season seems like a natural fit, and I suspect that he is likely to continue serving in that role throughout the length of the 3 year contract he signed with the Senators earlier this summer.
