Sens in danger of losing key player to UFA market.

It could change the whole roster.

The Sens had a very deep run in the Playoffs this year and came so close to reaching the final. Although it wasn't the year when the Cup would be brought back in Ottawa, there were still plenty of positive signs the team is moving in the right direction. GM Pierre Dorion now has decisions to make about players reaching UFA status and it's becoming a headache. If it wasn't for the expansion draft, a good part of the negotiations would be over already. However, things could get tricky pretty fast in Ottawa.

The team made clear it wanted to keep the roster as intact as possible for the upcoming season. Thing is, UFAs like Viktor Stalberg, Tom Pyatt, Tommy Wingels and Mike Condon have to be offered a new deal pretty fast before the market opens. According to Sens insider and Ottawa Citizen writer Bruce Garrioch, Condon would be the toughest contract to work with.

Apparently, more than 10 teams contacted him on Sunday and discussions with the Sens aren't going well. Before the expansion draft, negotiations were stalled and there's now very little time to find a solution. Condon was clear about his willingness to stay in Ottawa for a while, but in this new NHL money is everything. With Anderson not getting any younger, keeping Condon could be the key to the future. Sure, Andrew Hammond is still in the system but he's not exactly the most reliable goalie around.

A lot of headaches for Pierre Dorion and little time to find a solution. Being GM has to be complicated at times!
